The first GHRoW Scholarship was awarded in 1994 in the amount of $1,000. In the most recent year over $40,000 were awarded to nine students. Every dollar donated is awarded to the students excepting those gifts designated for the scholarship endowments. Over $600,000 have been directed to scholarships for students at SVA (over $475,000 has been awarded in scholarships to nearly 140 SVA students and over $125,000 is endowed for scholarships).
The GHRoW Merit Scholarship was modified during the 2017-2018 school year, with the assistance of SVA, to maximize the scholarship benefits.
Newly enrolling 9th and 10th graders are selected based on financial need, extracurricular activities and academics. The GHRoW Merit Scholarship is renewable each year based on criteria including:
- Financial need – as determined by SVA.
- Community Service – students annually perform off-campus community service.
- Philanthropy – students are enabled to support a charity of interest to them.
