The 13th annual R. Scott Handel Leadership Scholarship, along with $2,500, was awarded to Junior class president, Kristiana Hoffman. Kristiana was the first student to receive the leadership scholarship more than once.
Last year Kristiana was involved in several SVA music programs (Orchestra, Strings Ensemble, and Handbells) as well as competing on the swim team. She was also involved in the local Civil Air Patrol as she has a keen interest in flying. She also managed to work 30 hours a week at McDonalds to help pay for her education.
Kristiana said it isn’t always easy to stand for what is right. She recognizes that integrity is important in leadership and that the youth have a strong influence upon their peers. With God as her guide, Kristiana continues to strive to influence her peers and community for Him.
